The award-winning Canadian journalist and author of a new book — What Lies Across the Water: The Real Story of the Cuban Five — will address audiences in four appearances in the Midwest in mid-November.
Rene Gonzalez, the first of the Cuban 5 to be released, called the book “the best thing ever written” on the case. Ricardo Alarcon praised it as “fruit of research carried out by someone who at the start was not a defender or sympathizer with the cause of The Five. …It is the work of a master journalist, a great writer, and above all an honest intellectual committed only to what he could verify on his own.”
