Bay Area Send Off Events to Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Pastors for Peace Caravans to Cuba

For a quarter of a century IFCO Pastors for Peace has been taking thousands of tons of humanitarian aid to the people of Cuba in defiance of the illegal and immoral blockade of Cuba. This caravan will be a continuation of the legacy of Pastors for Peace founder Lucius Walker, a champion of Human Rights, who dedicated his life to developing people to people diplomacy between Cuba and the United States.

Programs will include:
  • The History of Pastor’s Caravans to Cuba and the plans for this year.
  • Report back on the 3rd 5 Days for the Cuban 5 in Washington D.C.
  • Cuba’s Sexual Revolution; Saul Landau’s unfinished film that examines the growing movement for LGBTQ equality in Cuba.
*Bill Hackwell has worked on the Pastors for Peace Caravans to Cuba since the beginning in 1992. He also participated in many of the caravans to Mexico when Pastors for Peace delivered critical humanitarian aid to the indigenous highland communities in Chiapas. Hackwell is a known social documentary photographer and an organizer with the International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban 5 in the U.S.
