THE CUBAN 5

All Indian Lawyers Union asks Obama to free the Cuban Five

All Indian Lawyers Union, AILU has sent an open letter to US President Barack Obama, with a demand to release the antiterrorist Cuban Five unjustly held in US since 1998.

“Mr. President: you must know all the irregularities committed during the trial of the Cuban Five and the poor arguments that support the sentences imposed to them”, the missive reads, sent by AILU to US Leader.

The document also includes a resolution adopted during an assembly carried out in New Delhi to review the Case of the Cuban Five, as Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Laba¤ino, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez are known worldwide.

That assembly, held at Gandhi Foundation for Peace, counted with the participation of AILU members, academicians and leaders of the main organizations of farmers and unions in India.

Those five fighters did not carry any gun and never had access to US classified national security information, the missive reads, after explaining that their work only consisted in infiltrating extreme right-wing Cuban American groups based in southern Florida in an attempt to prevent further terrorist attacks against the Cuban people.
