This September 12th will mark the 10th anniversary of the unjust arrest and imprisonment of the Cuban Five. An international call to action was made for people to organize all type of activities from September 12 to October 8 to commemorate the occasion.
In an attempt to reach a broader audience inside the U.S. , the International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five is organizing a major concert in New York City on the upcoming 10th anniversary that we have entitled “Five Stars and a Song”.
The concert will feature world-renowned Latin performers including; Danny Rivera (Puerto Rico), Victor Victor (Dominican Republic), Chuchito Valdes (Cuba) and the Puerto Rican Golden Jazz All Stars (U.S.). Danny Rivera has shared the stage with Julio Iglesias , Will Smith and Placido Domingo, and he has headlined at the Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall in New York. The compositions of Victor Victor are already considered classics of the Dominican music heritage.
The evening will be hosted by Bill Santiago, who recently emceed the Gala Celebration of the Latin Grammys. We have invited other celebrities who will soon confirm their participation.
The concert will take place Saturday September 13, from 7:30 to 11pm at the Hostos Community College Auditorium, New York City.
On 8 separate occasions, the U.S. government has denied entry visas to Adriana Perez (TOP) and Olga Salanueva (BOTTOM) to visit their imprisoned husbands.
It has been almost 10 years since they last embraced.
