On the Tenth Anniversary of the arrests of five Cuban men in the US while they were fighting against terrorism, the US-based International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five placed a full page ad in El Diario La Prensa in New York to bring attention to the case.
The ad is a call to the US government from 10 Nobel Price Winners plus 38,382 intellectuals, artists and citizens from all over the world demanding the immediate freedom for Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez, known as the Cuban Five, says a report by the Committee.
The 10 Nobel Prize Winners together with the thousands of intellectuals have joined the call of the “Network of Networks in Defense of Humanity” to raise their voices in this case which is highly silenced by the corporate media.
The Cuban Five were monitoring the activities of terrorist groups that act with total impunity in Miami with the objective of deterring their criminal actions.
They were condemned to 4 life sentences plus 77 years in prison for defending their country against terrorism.
From September 12th 2008, the day of their arrests, until October 8th 2008, many actions around the world will take place, including a concert in New York with renowned Latin American musicians, to denounce their illegal incarceration.
