More than 30 Indian intellectuals and artist have send a letter to the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, appealing “to ensure that this year the General Assembly Resolution be accompanied by genuine pressure on the USA to stop acting as an outlaw and abandon its policy against the genuine interests of the Cuban people and those of the world as a whole.”
They also appeal to “ensure the release of the Five Cubans, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzales and Rene Gonzales who have been responsible for exposing terrorists who had conducted the bombing of a Cuban passenger aircraft and other acts of terror in different countries. Their activity resulted in saving many innocent lives.”
Among the undersigned writers, artists and intellectuals are personalities as Professor Dr. Prabhat Parnaik, one of the five eminent experts, convoked by the president of the UN General Assembly, together with Nobel laureate Stiglitz, to create a panel on the ongoing financial crisis.
The letter also was signed by plastic artists, as important as, Arpana Caur, Vivan Sundaram or Atul Sinha, and writers and poets as Suneet Chopra, Ajeet Cour, Chandrabali Singh, as well as parliamentarians, ministries and other relevant personalities.
