We are starting the year with a campaign that features a new postcard and poster campaign directed at President Obama, urging him to free the Cuban 5.
It is a campaign that is coming together in a truly international way. The image of the campaign was created by Cuban graphic artist Jorge Martell, and between the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and the Union of Rotativist of France we will have 50,000 postcards printed in English and Spanish. Also, from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, friends from the International Institute of Political Studies 5 Heroes will have 10,000 posters available soon.
With this same image we will print thousands of flyers to distribute around the United States. We are finding out the cost to place ads in magazines and newspapers. The campaign also hopes to put up billboards, banners and big signs in public spaces.
We believe that the message of the postcard will be an attractive one for US audiences and will be stronger if the same message gets multiplied all over the world. We will make the PDF available for you to print them locally. If you need to order postcards write to: info@thecuban5.org
Besides this publicity campaign, we are planning a number of projects that will include conferences, showing of documentaries, literature tables in public spaces and participate in different important events.
As all the legal recourses for the Cuban 5 wind down it is more important than ever to expand our outreach and visibility to bring about awareness of the case that will inevitably be the key ingredient in gaining their freedom.
